Souterraine

La Souterraine; medieval centre, with the town’s heritage gem, the Notre Dame church. Close to the church rises the monumental 13th-century Saint-Jean gate, a remnant of the old city wall.

Aubusson

SaintLeonardDeNoblat

Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat; located in the heart of Vienne, on the road to Santiago de Compostella, is a charming medieval town that has preserved its rich architectural heritage. Through its little squares and alleys, walkers will discover beautiful old houses and also a magnificent Romanesque collegiate from the 11th and 12th centuries, raised with a remarkable bell tower.

Hiking

From the campsite, you can follow one of three hiking routes around La Chapelle-Taillefert. These routes are between 5 and 16 km. Of course, it is also possible to follow one of the many other marked routes around Gueret. For a comprehensive overview, visit the Mons de Guerets site.

Cycling

For the trained cyclist, there are beautiful marked mountain bike routes in the area. The area is hilly, so allow for reasonable height differences, but this of course offers beautiful viewpoints and vistas. Check here for the 6 best cycling routes near the campsite.

Etang de Courtille

This large lake, in the middle of Gueret, is a lovely place to hang out on hot days. You can walk around the lake, but there are also various activities to do such as canoe, pedal boat, paddle, skate park, playgrounds, etc.

Parks and lakes

  • Val Maubrune is a diverse landscape garden. Footpaths take you through beautiful nature with a variety of plant and tree species. Open in July and August from Friday to Monday 14h30-19h..
  • Lac de Vassivière; at this gigantic 1,000-hectare lake with 45 km of shores, you can imagine yourself in ‘little Canada’.
  • Lac de Saint-Pardoux is an hour’s drive from the campsite. There is plenty to do here to make a day of it; swimming pool, climbing park, water skiing, sailing, or just lying on the beach or going for a walk.
